Maartje Terpstra (1995) is schrijver, (taal)kunstenaar en kunst- en cultuurwetenschapper. Ze schrijft gedichten, columns, kunstkritiek en allerlei andere dingen. Met performances als taaloefeningen en –rituelen onderzoekt Maartje de macht en materialiteit van taal. Ze legt hierin de nadruk op de relatie tussen spreker, tekst en toehoorder. Dat deed ze onder andere tijdens Bosk van Arcadia, Dichters in de Prinsentuin, Docu Donna, Explore the North en bij DIHAN (10 nov). Zij werd twee keer genomineerd voor het Hendrik de Vriesstipendium voor Literatuur met interdisciplinaire literaire projecten die wars zijn van regels en grenzen. Ze is als talent verbonden aan de literaire organisatie NOORDWOORD.
Maria Barnas, schrijver, dichter en beeldend kunstenaar, over het werk(en) van Maartje: ‘Terpstra vestigt de aandacht op de vraag – in hoeverre dienen wij de taal? Ze laat zien dat kunst niet altijd tot een eindproduct hoeft te leiden, maar ook een manier van denken kan zijn, een methode. […] Geen onnodig romantisch geneuzel, maar recht voor zijn raap. […] Van taalplezier en beeldkracht buitelende poëzie, […] stevig en tegelijkertijd speels en uitnodigend.’

Maartje Terpstra (1995) is a writer, (literary) artist and arts- and cultural theorist. She writes poems, columns, art criticism and other stuff. With performances as language exercises and rituals Maartje researches the power and materiality of language. Furthermore, she focusses on the relation between speaker, text and recipient. Presentations of her work have taken place during Bosk by Arcadia, Dichters in de Prinsentuin, Docu Donna, Explore the North and at DIHAN (Nov 10th). She has been nominated twice for Hendrik de Vriesstipendium for Literature with interdisciplinary literary projects that are averse to rules and boundaries and she’s connected to literary organization NOORDWOORD.
